Michael Harvey

Captain

I spent the majority of my career working in the global mining industry, initially in sales and marketing followed by business and resource development and finally in the ports and shipping sector.  I have lived and worked in the UK, in a number of Asian countries and Perth and Brisbane before relocating to Melbourne in 2010.  I have been a Director and Chairman on a number of boards of private and public companies including roles in audit and risk and HSE.  I joined Woodlands in 2010.

Craig Redford

President

Graduating with a Diploma of Building (RMIT) in 1976, I worked in construction until retiring at the end of 2016. The first 20 years were involved in the local contracting market – primarily on medium scale industrial and commercial projects. The second period, I was engaged first as a Construction, and then Project and Program Manager. Seven years were with a publicly listed, national company and then finally as a partner in a medium sized local architectural company. I served ten years on the Board of the Beaumaris Baptist Church and am currently engaged as Chaplain with the Sandringham Dragons. I’ve been a member at Woodlands since 1985.

James Carroll

Treasurer

I have spent my career working in the areas of corporate finance, and commercial management across the service and IT industries. I have acted as Chief Executive, Chief Financial Officer and Director of both listed and unlisted companies  and have sat on and worked with Boards for over 25 years.  I have worked extensively across international markets, especially in Europe and the US and have been responsible for the financial management  and corporate governance of business across those regions as well as domestically. I joined Woodlands in 2007.

Helen O'Sullivan

Director

With a degree in economics & pure maths, my early career was as a business analyst and strategic planner in a number of large companies. I then changed direction and joined an international consultancy that focused on building robust organisations by tapping into the involvement and commitment of people. My clients were in Australia, PNG and China in both the private and public sector. I was on the Board of a national  economic research organisation and chaired community organisations engaged in addressing domestic violence and poverty.  I took up golf “late in life” and joined Woodlands in 2014.

Craig Girvan

Director

I’ve been a regular golfer and Woodlands member for 10 years. Prior to this I kept fit playing pennant squash for 25 years. My early career included the Royal Australian Navy and construction. I joined Kraft Foods and had a 29 year career in Food Manufacturing both in Australia and internationally, including 6 years living in Europe and then China. My expertise is in food production, project management and business development. My later career continued as a consultant project manager with Fonterra, Bega Cheese and Lion Dairy and Drinks. I enjoy travelling internationally and sailing around the Greek islands when possible and I’ve recently become an active member of the Mazda MX5 motorsport club.

David Stevenson

Director

I have worked in financial markets since 1996.  Initially, I worked as an equities analyst at a mid-sized broking firm, before moving to JBWere in 2000 where I began managing funds on behalf of clients.  I became a founding partner at Evans & Partners in 2007.  My clients are not for profit organisations along with a number of family groups.  I first became a member of Woodlands in 1988 before resigning in 2003 due to family commitments.  I returned to Woodlands in 2014.  I look forward to contributing to the ongoing success of the club.

Tony Rijs

Director

With a Bachelor of Civil Engineering, a Graduate Diploma in Municipal Engineering, and a Master of Social Science, I have spent over 30 years working in the local government sector. As a General Manager I have been responsible for leading a broad range of services including statutory and strategic planning, parks and recreation, capital works and community services.

More recently I have worked as a Director at Sustainability Victoria and have held senior roles with a number of the state’s Waste Management Groups. During my working career I have developed skills in budgeting, staff management and governance and provided support to State Boards and numerous Local Government Committees.

My board experience includes terms as a Director of the Institute of Public Works Engineering, Victoria Division (1994-2009), a Board Member and Chair of SERGASCO and as a committee member of the Mount Evelyn Tennis Club.

I have been a proud member of Woodlands since 1989 and have previously participated in the clubs Strategy and Water Committees.

Jen Ashman

Director

I have a background in Instrumentation and Control systems engineering primarily in the petrochemical and mining sector.  Based in Australia, I started my career in gas transmission, then moved into working on global smelting projects in India, South America and China. In 2001, I formed a small engineering design company focussing on supporting major energy and water asset owners.   Capabilities and roles include project management, logistics, information technology and small business practices.

Since joining Woodlands in 2008, I am a past member of the Women’s Committee and  Women’s Captain from 2017-2019.

Paul Reeves

Director

Golf has been part of my life since playing my first game as a 16 year old, having completed an apprenticeship working on Morack Golf Course I worked in maintenance and construction before eventually becoming Facility Manager 14 years later.  I then moved into golf construction for another 10 years before spending the last 12 years as a golf course designer.  I have a Diploma in Turf Management and Business, a Life Member of Apex, Board member of the Apex Foundation for Research into Intellectual Disability and I am current Honorary Secretary / Treasurer of the Society of Australian Golf Course Architects.  I joined Woodlands in 2016.
