“I have great pleasure in announcing that this year we have raised in excess of $17,000 at our annual Open/Charity Day and our Committee would really like to congratulate and thank all our Woodlands members (both men & women) for their generosity and continued support. Both our giant raffle and silent auctions were so successful with more happy winners than ever this year! We are very grateful to the many members who donated beautiful raffle prizes and items for the Silent Auction.
I also wish to acknowledge Marg Holland for her super efforts obtaining extra prizes from our local traders. Great job Marg! A huge thank you to Betty and Trish for their awesome plant stall which looked so colourful and smelt divine, to Jilanne and Judy M for co-ordinating and presenting a delicious cake stall, stocked full of yummy homemade creations, and to Anne G and Bev for organising and welcoming the bridge/solo and mahjong ladies so well. Our Money Tree this year was a huge fundraiser and I would like to thank all those who donated the many, many scratchie tickets …. I can confirm that it was won by a very excited visiting lady from Eastern Golf Club who has sent me photos of her 3 grown up grandsons enjoying scratching their tickets. She is the proud grandma of a special needs boy and couldn’t thank us enough for her day at Woodlands and has laminated the poems and verses we supplied.
As usual our staff played a major role in the success of the day, as too, our team of women volunteers, so our thanks to all of them for their help and attention on the day. Charity Day is a major event on our Women’s calendar and takes many months of planning. Praise also goes to our Committee for all their extra hours and hard work, and especially Libby, for her additional role helping co-ordinate. We still have a few fundraising ideas to pursue before we proudly hand over our cheque to Yarrabah later this year. Hopefully we can share that moment with most of you present.”
